Google “AI Pack” Replacing Local Pack for Personal Injury Attorneys?

You heard it here first. Beginning in late September 2025, Google has been testing an “AI Overviews” section which replaces the Local Pack. The tests have been conducted on mobile search results, and only in a handful of niches, such as Personal Injury Attorney”.

What is the “AI Pack”:

This is totally separate from a Google “AI Mode” local result. The “AI Pack” (as I’m calling it) is an “AI Overview” which displays local results.

The AI Pack currently shows up when you do a search for a city name + “personal injury lawyer”, such as a search for “Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer”.

I should note here that if you’re already in Los Angeles, you’re probably not typing this exact keyword in. Regardless, Google is testing something.

Here’s what the AI Pack looks like, as of October 1, 2025:

How Do I rank in the AI Pack?

Ah, good question. Well, I tried this same search a few times and Google produced different results each time. I also tested this in multiple browsers and on a few of my cell phones and it’s just not consistent.

I am seeing some correlations but I just don’t have enough data to comfortably provide advice here, other than, if you have quality SEO and have been ranking in the Local Pack, actively obtaining reviews, and doing some of our previously noted GEO tricks, you are likely to show up in AI Packs.

To Be Determined…

This is just Google testing something new. They do it all the time – they may never roll this out. The existing Local Pack ranking factors work pretty well, so they may just do away with this soon.

If you’re not ranking or in the Local Pack, feel free to reach out. You can also read about Personal Injury Law Firm SEO here.
