Ranking at the top of Google’s search results may or may not help a personal injury law firm obtain leads. It really depends on a city’s population and how saturated their market is.
Two Extreme Cases.
Most law firms are somewhere in the middle, but here are two firms who have had a very different experience with ranking on the front page of Google.
* You also have to keep in mind that the vast majority of SEO agencies never even get you to page one in the first place.
Case Study 1: Almost no Leads.
There is a law firm in southern Florida who ranks in both the Local Pack and at the top of organic search results. The Local Pack only has so much reach as user proximity is a major ranking factor. This city has 40,000 people and there are 37 Personal Injury Law Firms. In fact, this firm is one of three personal injury firms in their same building. As a result, they show up in the Local Pack for approximately 0.5mi from their location. They do get leads from their organic rankings, but we’re talking 4 calls each month. They may go 6 months before signing a good case. As a note, this site is relatively small and consists of <50 pages.
Case Study 2: 1,200 Leads per month.
Another firm we work with has a major presence in their state. Their 6 offices are strategically placed in cities of 100,000 – 600,000 people. They have multiple sites, do social, their YouTube videos display in search, and more. They get 900+ calls every month (and growing), 200+ chat leads, and 100+ email forms. This is via organic. As a note, this site is huge and has thousands of pages.

Beware: Most SEO Agencies are Scams.
100% of our clients have been burned by SEO agencies, or totally random web hosts who were just selling SEO for the heck of it. In the legal world, there are a bunch of “legal website builders” who try to upsell total garbage “onsite” SEO services. These do not move the needle whatsoever in Google’s search results. In my opinion, these are scams.
So, in those cases, those particular SEO services have not worked.
The real question is, is it worth being in the Local Pack and on page 1?
Yes. Definitely. This is not even remotely debatable. You don’t have to take my word for it. Simply ask any personal injury attorney, in any major city, anywhere in the USA, if ranking in the Local Pack and on page 1 is worth it for them. 100% of them will say yes in under 1 second.
