Lawyers: Google Maps to Allow Pseudonyms & Anonymous Reviews in 2026

On November 19, 2025, Google announced some new Google Maps features. One of the features is anonymous reviews.

The announcement stated the anonymous reviews would be live in November in time for Christmas. However, as of December 2025, Google has failed to roll the new feature out. Regardless, it will be here soon and live in 2026.

What Does This Mean for Law Firms?

Some people are reluctant to leave reviews under their real name, especially people who have used medical, financial, or legal professionals.

Overall, we are optimistic this will give attorneys another tool to help obtain Google reviews.

How To Ask Clients for Anonymous Reviews:

Users will go to their Google Maps app, view their profile, select “edit profile”, then select a custom name and image for posting reviews to Google Maps.

This Google Maps profile affects all past, present, and future reviews left by the user.

The Google Maps profile remains associated with the user’s actual Google Profile.
