In most cases, Google allows lawyers to have personal GBP listings besides the primary law firm listing. However, this is not always recommended for the highest visibility.
When can lawyers have their own GBP listing?
Lawyers can have their own GBP listings as long as they’re public-facing, and not the only lawyer at the law firm. We call these listings “practitioner listings” and they’re common with doctors.
For example, if John Smith at John Smith Law Firm wanted to create an additional profile for himself, it wouldn’t be allowed as long as he’s the only attorney.
When should lawyers utilize personal GBP listings?
Law firms focusing on multiple practice areas at general practice firms can benefit from having individual attorney profiles the most. For example, if your law firm uses the “Law Firm” category as their primary category on GBP, it could helpful to have a PI attorney use “Personal Injury Attorney” as the primary category on their individual listing.
